
People Generalist – 6-Month Fixed Term

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of requisitions from initiation to offer, which includes collaborating with hiring managers on intake, developing sourcing strategies, posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and supporting offers.
• Conduct phone screenings and provide data-driven recommendations to hiring managers.
• Ensure accurate records in the ATS, including dispositions, pipeline stages, and candidate information.
• Manage timely and professional communications with candidates.
• Oversee the complete onboarding process, including offer letters, new-hire documentation, background checks, I-9 coordination, provisioning requests, and scheduling for the first week.
• Act as the primary contact for new hires regarding policy inquiries, benefits enrollment, and setup questions.
• Monitor required new-hire documentation and follow up on any pending items.
• Conduct audits of employee files, identify documentation gaps, and verify I-9s, policy acknowledgments, and handbook agreements.
• Maintain records in accordance with retention policies and Wheel’s data handling standards, escalating any discrepancies.
• Produce an audit report at the end of engagements, summarizing findings and remaining gaps.
• Write and update job descriptions across various departments.
• Standardize the format and language of job descriptions and collaborate with hiring managers on scopes and requirements.
• Ensure job descriptions accurately reflect essential functions, correct classifications, and leveling, flagging items for review when necessary.
• Manage employee data in BambooHR and process lifecycle transactions.
• Generate standard reports and address routine inquiries regarding policies and processes.
• Assist with e-signature campaigns, compliance tracking, documentation maintenance, employment verifications, and other administrative requests.
• A minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a generalist role or in a combined recruiting and HR operations capacity.
• Experience with full-cycle recruiting, taking ownership of requisitions rather than merely coordinating them.
• Proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information and make appropriate decisions on escalations.
• Well-organized and self-directed.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Familiarity with I-9 and employment eligibility requirements, recordkeeping, and classification principles.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.; Wheel is unable to provide sponsorship for employment authorization.
• Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or another regulated industry is a plus.
• Exposure to multi-state employment or working with a distributed workforce is a plus.
• Experience with file audits or HR compliance projects is a plus.
• PHR, SHRM-CP, or a similar certification is a plus.
