This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct independent external medical reviews remotely on an as-needed basis as an independent contractor.
• Perform objective, evidence-based peer reviews of clinical cases specifically within the pediatric critical care specialty.
• Make final judgments regarding medical necessity and quality of care.
• Ensure that decisions are impartial, equitable, and consistent with current standards of practice.
• Submit reviews promptly and professionally utilizing the designated IT systems.
• Must possess an unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state.
• Board certification is required, if applicable, through a board recognized by ABMS, AOA, or another nationally recognized certifying body.
• A minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience delivering direct clinical care to patients.
• Experience providing direct clinical care to patients within the last three (3) years.
• Familiarity with the issues under review, current evidence-based clinical guidelines, and innovative treatments related to the condition, disease, treatment, or procedure in question.
• Clinical expertise to manage the medical or behavioral health condition or disease being reviewed.
• Actively involved in direct or virtual patient care for at least 20 hours per week; administrative work does not qualify.
• Reliable access to Wi-Fi.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word.
• Access to a computer that is compatible with iMPROve Health’s IT systems.
• Completion of the electronic credentialing application and receipt of organizational approval are required before performing a case review.
• A conflict of interest attestation must be completed upon credentialing and prior to conducting a case review.
• Active hospital medical staff privileges may be necessary, as applicable.
• Must promptly inform the organization of any adverse changes in licensure or certification status, including board certification status.
• Cannot currently be employed by or affiliated with any Veterans Affairs hospital, healthcare system, or medical center if applying to conduct VA-related peer reviews.
