Peer Review Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete peer review process for assigned submissions, which includes selecting and inviting reviewers, monitoring reviews, preparing decisions, and managing revisions.

• Develop, evaluate, and sustain a high-caliber pool of reviewers; keep track of expertise coverage and foster connections with leading reviewers.

• Track timelines and throughput metrics, such as time to first decision and reviewer acceptance/turnaround; proactively address delays and enhance workflow efficiency.

• Partner with JoVE Editorial and Production teams to ensure a seamless experience for authors from submission to publication.

• Recognize and execute process enhancements, including templates, automation, and dashboards, to decrease cycle times and elevate review quality.

• Keep precise records in manuscript management systems like Editorial Manager and Monday.com, encompassing reviewer activities, decisions, correspondence, and policy exceptions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related discipline is mandatory.

• Over 5 years of experience in scholarly publishing with direct involvement in peer review processes.

• Familiarity with single-blind, double-blind, and open peer review methodologies.

• Understanding of open access workflows and emerging trends in scholarly communication.

• Proficient with manuscript systems and workflow tools; experience with Editorial Manager is highly preferred.

• Comfortable utilizing automation and AI-assisted tools to enhance efficiency.

• Outstanding written communication skills and strong editorial judgment.

• Ability to distill complex feedback into clear, actionable decisions.

• Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
