This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Conduct research, analysis, and resolution of payroll tax notices for federal, state/provincial, and local jurisdictions in the US and Canada.
• Monitor issues until resolved and retain documentation to support audit processes.
• Accurately process payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper tax treatment for employees located in various states/provinces.
• Oversee new tax jurisdiction and entity registrations within Smart Compliance.
• Address system exceptions and validate tax configurations to guarantee accurate processing.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll tax functions, including W-2/T4 preparation, reconciliations, filings, and validations.
• Handle and resolve a high volume of employee tax/payroll inquiries.
• Support employment tax audits by providing documentation and timely responses.
• Identify and suggest process enhancements aimed at minimizing risks and boosting efficiency.
• Maintain adaptability to assist during peak periods and specific projects.
• Provide assistance with workers' compensation, audits, and act as a liaison with CRA and MRQ.
• 3–5 years of practical experience in employment/payroll tax matters for both the USA and Canada.
• Proficient in Workday and ADP Smart Compliance, specifically in managing tax registrations and resolving issues.
• Hands-on experience with quarter-end and year-end payroll tax processes, including filings, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Experience in processing payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of employee inquiries/tickets with a strong focus on customer service.
• Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; skilled at organizing and interpreting payroll/tax data.
• Experience in assisting with workers' compensation, audits, liaising with CRA and MRQ, and managing year-end processes.
• Familiarity with Executive Compensation Payroll and Tax Reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Accounting background is preferred.
• FPC or PCP certification is desirable.
• 5% potential for annual bonus.
