This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee multi-state compliance for federal, state, and local payroll taxes, encompassing both employee and employer taxes, deposits, filings, and reconciliations.
• Organize quarterly and year-end payroll tax functions, including the preparation of Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-2C, amendments, and associated reconciliations.
• Handle payroll tax registrations, agency notifications, audits, penalties, and correspondence, ensuring timely resolutions.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and collaborate with Payroll and People Systems to maintain compliance in payroll tax processes, controls, and system configurations.
• Diagnose the root causes of payroll tax challenges, implement sustainable corrective measures, and guarantee the effective performance of external payroll tax service providers.
• Engage in M&A diligence and integration efforts, offering payroll tax expertise to support readiness, compliance, and issue resolution.
• Create payroll tax reports and provide insights on significant compliance risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Work in partnership with Payroll, People Systems, Finance, and external payroll tax vendors.
• Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of payroll tax experience in a complex, multi-state setting.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Proficient in payroll tax filings, reconciliations, registrations, amendments, agency notifications, and year-end reporting processes.
• Experience utilizing an enterprise payroll platform and collaborating with payroll tax providers.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Workday Payroll experience is preferred.
• ADP payroll and payroll tax experience is preferred.
• Prior experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or significant organizational changes is preferred.
• Background in healthcare or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification or a similar qualification is preferred.
• Must possess the ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship; the company currently cannot provide visa sponsorship (H1B or otherwise).
