This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Supervise, mentor, and cultivate a payroll team located in the Philippines, which includes responsibilities for hiring, structuring, and coaching.
• Oversee the complete payroll lifecycle across more than 15 US states, acting as the final point of escalation for intricate tax and system-related issues.
• Direct withholding, filing, and reconciliation efforts across various state jurisdictions, encompassing SUTA/FUTA, FICA, and local tax nexus management.
• Take ownership of ADP Workforce Now or a similar payroll platform, ensuring system integrity, integration, and ongoing optimization.
• Manage the registration process for new state tax IDs while ensuring compliance with obligations across the expanding US operations.
• Lead the response efforts to federal and state tax notices, garnishments, and year-end reconciliations, including processing of W-2/W-3 forms.
• Provide payroll and compliance reporting to executive management, which includes 401(k) contributions, audit status updates, and trend analysis.
• Transition from manual, reactive payroll processes to automated, scalable, and audit-ready operations.
• Report directly to the VP of Human Resources and work closely with leadership from US-based Finance, HR, and Operations.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in US multi-state payroll, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in building, structuring, or scaling a payroll team based in the Philippines.
• Extensive knowledge of US multi-state tax compliance, including SUTA/FUTA, FICA, W-2/W-3 processing, and state nexus regulations.
• Advanced skills in Excel, including the use of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Macros, Power Query, and large dataset modeling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Willingness to work from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM PHST.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Kronos/UKG, or other comparable enterprise payroll systems is preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
• Familiarity with managing 401(k) reporting, garnishments, and multi-entity payroll environments is preferred.
• Successful completion of a background check covering criminal history, previous employment, and education verification.
