Payroll Specialist Lead – Japan

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Serve as a subject matter expert in payroll for Japan.

• Cultivate relationships with stakeholders across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering.

• Oversee the complete in-house payroll process, which includes statutory filings, exceptions, approvals, payments, and compliance.

• Ensure the integrity and quality of all data.

• Conduct accounting tasks and reconciliations.

• Focus on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).

• Implement and enhance processes for greater efficiency.

• Provide mentorship and support to payroll specialists.

• Act as a backup for regional managers during their absence.

• Report directly to the Manager of Global Payroll Operations.

• Experience in payroll management or a related field.

• Familiarity with payroll best practices.

• Proficient in software tools such as SAP and Excel / Google Sheets.

• Possess an analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international working environment.

• Focused on productivity to enhance and expedite processes.

• Understanding of a predominantly asynchronous work setting.

• Fluent in both written and spoken English.

• Strong capabilities in automation and AI, with fluency in AI applications.

• Experience with remote work is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Previous employment verification is required.
