This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and manage the complete multi-state payroll cycle in Workday for both salaried and hourly employees, encompassing off-cycle runs, terminations, retroactive pay, as well as bonus and commission payments.
• Ensure the integrity of payroll data within Workday, which includes managing earnings and deduction codes, pay groups, work locations, tax elections, garnishments, and direct deposits.
• Monitor hourly time and attendance, overtime, shift differentials, and PTO accruals in collaboration with Manufacturing Operations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll.
• Assist with the final stages of the Workday Payroll implementation, which includes validating configurations, conducting test and parallel payroll runs, performing data migration checks, and executing PEO cutover.
• Create documentation for payroll procedures and establish internal controls, checklists, and approval workflows.
• Register and oversee state and local payroll tax accounts; keep track of filings, deposits, and agency communications, while resolving any issues that arise.
• Aid in the quarter-end and year-end payroll processes, including 941s, W-2s, state filings, and amendments.
• Manage payroll-related benefit deductions, 401(k) contributions, and funding files.
• Collaborate with People Ops and the plan provider for reconciliations and census data management.
• Reconcile payroll with the general ledger; prepare payroll journal entries and accruals, and assist with the monthly close process.
• Provide payroll data and reconciliations needed for financial statements, 401(k), workers' compensation, and R&D tax credit audits.
• Report directly to the Senior Finance Manager and work closely with the People Ops team.
• A minimum of 3 years of comprehensive payroll experience, including multi-state payroll in the United States.
• Proficiency in Workday Payroll is essential, particularly in processing payroll through the system.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and FLSA classification is required.
• Experience in payroll GL mapping, reconciliation, and journal entries is necessary.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to work comfortably with large datasets are important.
• A high level of accuracy and follow-through is essential.
• The ability to exercise sound discretion with confidential compensation and employee data is crucial.
• Excellent written communication skills and the capability to work independently in a dynamic remote environment are required.
• CPP or FPC certification is preferred but not mandatory.
