This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Accurately, compliantly, and promptly produce the designated stream of native Dutch payroll each period.
• Process and verify payroll master data, which includes new hires, terminations, salary changes, variable pay, benefits, absences, and garnishments.
• Execute pre- and post-payroll validations, identifying issues prior to finalizing payroll.
• Complete monthly loonaangifte submissions to the Belastingdienst, as well as UWV wage declarations, annual jaarloonopgaaf, and Ziektewet/WAZO reimbursement claims.
• Retrieve and manage employee loonheffingskorting data while facilitating necessary government access setup and maintenance.
• Adhere to in-house payroll system protocols and test legislative updates as instructed.
• Utilize knowledge of Dutch wage tax, social security, employment legislation, and CAO in payroll tasks.
• Review payroll journals and GL mappings against payroll outputs, flagging any data integrity issues.
• Manage assigned client payroll inquiries and escalate issues that exceed scope.
• Prepare statutory and ad-hoc reports, including those related to the EU Pay Transparency Directive, OR-facing pay assessments, and AVG/GDPR documentation.
• Provide organized data and documentation for both internal and external audits.
• Follow and enhance SOPs, identify process gaps, share knowledge, and maintain playbooks and the knowledge base.
• 1–3 years of experience managing native, in-house Netherlands payroll processes.
• Capability to independently manage a defined monthly volume of payslips.
• Practical AFAS processing experience.
• Completion of Praktijkdiploma Loonadministratie (PDL) and/or NIRPA Register Salarisadministrateur (RSa) registration.
• Proficient understanding of Dutch wage tax, social insurance, and labor law.
• Proficiency in Dutch at C1/C2 level for interaction with local authorities.
• Fluent in English for collaboration with the asynchronous global team.
• Ability to manage assigned client inquiries and escalate issues beyond scope with clear context.
• Detail-oriented with a meticulous approach and thorough self-checking.
• Capability to navigate ambiguity and recognize when escalation is necessary.
• Willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
• Comfort in a fast-paced, remote-first work environment with a largely asynchronous workflow.
• Eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
• Desirable: broader accounting background or RA/AA qualification.
• Desirable: experience in delivering cross-functional HR/payroll projects.
• Desirable: practical use of AI tools for payroll or operational workflows.
• Desirable: skills in data transformation and experience with data analytics platforms.
