Payroll Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Execute multi-state bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for both hourly and salaried staff, adhering to established deadlines.

• Calculate wages, tax withholdings, and deductions while confirming submitted changes.

• Assist in reconciling payroll accounts.

• Create and distribute payroll reports to regional Finance leaders.

• Handle monthly bonus and commission disbursements.

• Audit employee time and labor data, addressing any discrepancies with management.

• Balance and process garnishments in compliance with regulatory standards.

• Manage stop-payment requests or pay card transactions.

• Address employee inquiries regarding paychecks, tax withholdings, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposits, and related issues.

• Respond daily to payroll tickets and fill in necessary ticket attributes.

• Provide wage information for unemployment claims and government-required surveys.

• Upload severance documents and ensure timely processing of payments.

• Compile and process monthly union dues and payments for the union pension plan.

• Maintain confidentiality at all times.


⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws, wage policies, and wage and hour regulations.

• Data-driven with a scientific approach, possessing strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.

• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Excellent customer service skills with clear verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to manage and prioritize tasks while working under pressure to meet departmental and regulatory deadlines.

• Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.

• Experience in multitasking within a deadline-focused environment.

• Skilled in utilizing technology, including the full Google Suite.

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related business field or equivalent combination of education and payroll experience.

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred.

• At least two years of experience processing multi-state payrolls.

• Direct experience with Workday and ADP is preferred.

• Must reside in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX.

• Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a comprehensive pre-employment background check.
