Payroll Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Review weekly certified payroll for employees engaged in prevailing wage projects, ensuring accurate wage determinations, fringe benefit allocations, and overtime calculations.

• Stay informed about U.S. federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws to maintain compliance.

• Monitor and report fringe benefits to fulfill prevailing wage obligations.

• Address payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries concerning wages, deductions, and benefits.

• Verify compliance in reporting, including worker classifications, hours worked, and applicable wage rates.

• Keep thorough records of certified payroll submissions for audits and client requests.

• Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.

• Collaborate with compliance managers, project managers, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

• Communicate with contractors, subcontractors, and clients to resolve any payroll or reporting issues.

• Participate in interdepartmental meetings to align payroll practices with project and compliance objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• 5–10+ years of experience in U.S. payroll.

• Preferred experience related to labor compliance and prevailing wage regulations.

• Experience in construction, staffing, or government contracting sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Willingness to work U.S. hours, either Eastern or Pacific Time.

• Knowledge of prevailing U.S. wage laws and certified payroll requirements is beneficial but not essential.

• Familiarity with certified payroll systems like LCPtracker or eMars is a plus but not required.

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, law, or a related field is preferred.
