This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Administer and process payroll utilizing ADP.
• Maintain payroll records for employees, including deductions, tax elections, and other pertinent payroll information.
• Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hires, terminations, adjustments in compensation, bonuses, and other payroll modifications.
• Establish payroll operations in a new state, which involves researching and coordinating state-specific payroll taxes, withholdings, unemployment, and the necessary employer registration requirements.
• Collaborate with ADP to set up new-state payroll and tax accounts, ensuring proper configuration within the payroll system.
• Guarantee precise state and local tax withholdings and reporting.
• Analyze payroll reports and reconcile payroll data to detect and rectify discrepancies.
• Assist with federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and ensure compliance.
• Oversee multi-state payroll obligations as the company grows.
• Address employee inquiries concerning payroll, deductions, taxes, and pay statements.
• Aid in year-end payroll processes, including the preparation and reconciliation of W-2 forms.
• Ensure the accuracy of payroll documentation and assist with both internal and external audits.
• Uphold confidentiality regarding employee compensation and personal information.
• Work collaboratively with HR, accounting, and management on payroll-related issues.
• Identify and propose enhancements to payroll processes and controls.
• Proven hands-on experience with ADP payroll.
• Comprehensive experience in processing payroll from inception to completion.
• Background in handling multi-state payroll.
• Experience with the initiation or implementation of payroll in new states, including state registration, tax configurations, and payroll system setup.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
• Proficient in Excel with a keen attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently while managing confidential information.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Ideal candidates will reside in a HUBZone.
• Preferred: Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now.
• Preferred: Experience supporting small or growing government contractors.
• Preferred: Proven track record of establishing payroll in multiple states.
• Preferred: FPC or CPP certification.
• Preferred: Experience with HRIS/payroll implementation.
