
Payroll Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage all essential payroll operations throughout the organization.
• Oversee and process complete payroll for all staff members.
• Administer the timekeeping system, conduct audits, and resolve any issues.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws, along with multi-state payroll requirements.
• Supervise payroll tax filings, reconciliations, agency notifications, and audits.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
• Manage year-end payroll tasks, including preparation and audits of W-2 forms.
• Partner with HRIS, Finance, ITD, and other departments regarding employee changes, benefits, deductions, bonuses, and special payroll runs.
• Professionally and confidentially address employee payroll inquiries.
• Develop and uphold payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Assist with internal and external audits and address any findings.
• Lead and mentor the payroll team.
• Drive payroll initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing system capabilities, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on business process initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Must reside in Northeast Ohio.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field with seven years of relevant payroll, tax, or finance and accounting experience in a corporate or professional services setting, OR an Associate’s degree with nine years of Payroll/Managerial experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and wage and hour laws.
• Ability to work effectively with payroll and project teams during upgrades and implementations of payroll systems.
• Knowledge of fundamental accounting functions.
• Preferred: previous supervisory or managerial experience in payroll functions.
• Preferred: tax experience, particularly in payroll.
• Preferred: familiarity with Workday.
• Preferred: experience with ADP Tax.
• Preferred: background in larger organizations and multi-state taxes.
• Ability to communicate effectively and share accurate information.
• Capacity to perform work in a stationary position for extended durations.
• Ability to handle physical records or operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Must comply with Cleveland Clinic’s influenza prevention program or secure an approved exemption.
