This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Carry out pre-pay, run, and post-pay processes by utilizing SOPs, checklists, and templates, ensuring accurate and timely data handling.
• Input standard data (timesheets, allowances, deductions) and verify source data against existing records.
• Conduct predefined checks and reconcile basic discrepancies, escalating any issues that exceed your authority.
• Establish and maintain employee payroll records and documentation to meet audit standards.
• Implement documented payroll procedures and identify when documentation requires updating.
• Uphold data confidentiality and possess basic awareness of compliance, including GDPR, POPIA, or equivalent regulations in your country.
• Assist in managing expenses and approvals, ensuring accurate and timely processing and routing of items.
• Perform regular data reconciliation, verifying inputs and records against source information.
• Handle mail and payroll correspondence, ensuring accurate preparation, sending, and filing.
• Keep payroll records, trackers, and status logs updated, while executing general payroll support tasks under supervision.
• Collaborate effectively within the team, taking direction from senior colleagues and applying constructive feedback.
• Clearly communicate progress and obstacles in team channels and updates.
• Recognize minor process gaps and propose enhancements.
• Embrace AI-assisted tools and workflows as they are introduced, utilizing them for improved accuracy and efficiency, and sharing acquired knowledge.
• Familiarity with payroll principles, SOPs, checklists, and data privacy regulations.
• Knowledge of statutory settings, earnings, deductions, and banking validation processes.
• Ability to perform routine data entry and validations with accuracy and timeliness.
• Proficient in Google Sheets or Excel, possessing strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• A collaborative communicator who promptly escalates exceptions and learns swiftly from feedback.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and composed when meeting deadlines.
• Willing to adopt new tools and AI-assisted workflows as they are introduced.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in French and/or Dutch is an advantage.
• Alignment with Remote's values and departmental competencies, as well as comfort with asynchronous work methods.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Excel, Notion, Slack, Zendesk, and Monday.com.
• Experience with payroll software such as Apsal, Easypay, or AFAS.
