This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the complete payroll cycle for around 500 employees throughout Canada and the U.S.
• Process payroll for salaried, hourly, unionized, and non-union employees on weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly schedules.
• Foster relationships with benefits and retirement savings providers to achieve cost efficiencies and improve coverage.
• Administer benefits and retirement programs, ensuring timely enrollment for employees.
• Create educational resources and campaigns to enhance awareness of benefits and promote cost savings.
• Spearhead annual benefits renewal processes, including cost analysis and communication materials.
• Supervise year-end payroll reporting, remittances, ROEs, T4s, RL-1s, and related filings.
• Interpret and manage collective agreement payroll stipulations, including premiums, wage increases, overtime, and union dues.
• Generate payroll, labor, and benefits reports for leadership review.
• Lead the upgrade of payroll systems for Canada and the U.S. to Workforce Now.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive payroll experience.
• Extensive knowledge in processing payrolls for both Canadian and U.S. employees.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations across Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Texas.
• Experience in administering payroll in unionized settings.
• Capability to interpret collective agreements for precise payroll processing.
• Experience managing employee benefits programs in Canada and the U.S., including enrollments, terminations, and extensions.
• Familiarity with ASO and fully insured benefits programs in Canada.
• PCP designation is mandatory.
• CPM designation is considered a valuable asset.
• Over 5 years of advanced experience using ADP Workforce Now.
• Practical experience in implementing ADP Workforce Now.
• Proficient in HRIS, payroll reporting, and advanced Excel skills.
• Competence in troubleshooting payroll system issues and leading testing initiatives.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Comprehensive benefits programs, including ASO and fully insured benefits in Canada.
• Retirement savings programs.
• Management of employee benefits enrollments, terminations, and extensions.
• Benefits renewal process and opportunities for coverage improvement.
• Initiatives aimed at cost savings for benefits and retirement programs.
