This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the complete payroll processing cycle for the US and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for each pay period.
• Act as the primary contact for UK and France payroll, collaborating with third-party payroll service providers.
• Manage payroll data in Rippling, including updates related to employee changes, pay adjustments, and terminations.
• Investigate and assist in resolving payroll tax notices related to unemployment insurance and withholding.
• Reconcile payroll and benefits, which includes payroll deductions, benefits invoices, and entries in the general ledger.
• Facilitate compliance-related audits by preparing necessary payroll and benefits documentation for the Finance and People Operations teams.
• Oversee the intake of leave requests and verify initial eligibility according to policy.
• Coordinate the impact of leave on payroll processing.
• Monitor the status of leave cases and manage logistics for returning to work.
• Collaborate with People Operations on compliance reviews for complex or ambiguous leave situations.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits enrollment, coverage options, and plan specifics.
• Execute benefits changes associated with qualifying life events.
• Assist in the logistics of open enrollment as needed.
• 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing, including handling multi-state payroll in the US.
• Experience with Canadian payroll is preferred; a willingness to develop this expertise is required.
• Strong preference for experience with Rippling or a similar HRIS/payroll platform.
• Familiarity with US leave laws (FMLA, state paid leave/PFML) is preferred.
• Experience in researching and resolving payroll tax notices (SUI, withholding) directly with tax agencies or through a payroll provider.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive, confidential information effectively.
• Capability to work collaboratively across functions with Finance and third-party vendors.
• Experience coordinating with international payroll vendors is advantageous (UK/France).
