Payroll Analyst – LATAM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Facilitate the complete monthly payroll process for designated LATAM markets, encompassing input collection and review, validation, approvals, readiness for funding, and output verification.

• Collect, assess, and validate payroll inputs, including new hires, salary modifications, bonuses, leave implications, deductions, terminations, and other employee lifecycle changes.

• Examine payroll calculations and outputs, resolve discrepancies, perform reconciliations, and ensure payroll accuracy prior to approval and payment.

• Manage payroll calendars, checklists, trackers, calculation protocols, validation guidelines, SOPs, and knowledge base resources for assigned countries.

• Collaborate with local payroll providers and in-country specialists to accurately reflect country-specific payroll regulations and requirements in systems and workflows.

• Assist with statutory payroll responsibilities, including government-mandated contributions, tax and reporting obligations, filing deadlines, and local compliance procedures.

• Address payroll inquiries and provide prompt support during LATAM working hours, with some overlap with a South Africa-based team during onboarding.

• Communicate with local payroll experts mainly in Spanish and, when necessary, Portuguese; convey requirements and findings to stakeholders in English.

• Investigate issues and escalate risks when appropriate.

• Aid in the onboarding of new payroll markets and transitions from external providers to Playroll-managed processes, including process mapping, testing, validation, and operational readiness.

• Identify opportunities to enhance payroll accuracy, controls, efficiency, and scalability through improved processes, documentation, systems, and automation.


⛳️ Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience as a Payroll Analyst or in payroll operations, payroll processing, payroll implementation, or a similar operational/compliance role.

• Practical experience in supporting end-to-end payroll processing, covering payroll inputs, calculations, validations, reconciliations, and employee lifecycle changes.

• Comprehensive knowledge of payroll practices and statutory requirements in at least one LATAM market (e.g., Argentina, Mexico, Colombia).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to thoroughly investigate payroll issues and handle details accurately.

• Capacity to manage multi-country payroll workflows, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations across LATAM time zones.

• Proficient in written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.

• Comfortable working with spreadsheets, process tools, and payroll or operational systems.

• Relevant qualifications such as Chartered Accountant, Bachelor of Commerce, or similar are beneficial but not mandatory.

• Experience across multiple LATAM jurisdictions is a plus.

• Professional proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese is advantageous.

• Familiarity with EOR, PEO, or global payroll outsourcing platforms is a plus.

• Exposure to payroll implementation, in-sourcing, or provider transitions is advantageous.

• Experience with Monday.com or similar process/workflow tools is a plus.
