This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Act as a payroll expert for North America within the People Services team.
• Manage multiple payrolls for the US and Canada through an outsourced, fully managed payroll provider.
• Ensure payroll processing is accurate, timely, and adheres to regulations and company policies.
• Establish and nurture relationships with HR, Finance, and Plant administrators.
• Prepare and maintain precise payroll transaction records and transfer data to the third-party provider.
• Review provider payroll outputs and confirm data changes.
• Review and authorize payroll, disbursements, and garnishments.
• Analyze pre-payroll reports for discrepancies, errors, and anomalies.
• Confirm compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour regulations.
• Maintain and assess payroll process documentation.
• Promote continuous improvement with HR, finance, and Compensation & Benefits stakeholders.
• Facilitate audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
• Generate reports and summaries regarding earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
• Assist Finance in reconciling payroll accounts and addressing General Ledger reporting inquiries.
• Address employee data requests within SLA timelines.
• Uphold confidentiality and comply with data protection laws.
• Enhance professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional organizations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certificate OR FPC.
• Three to five years of relevant experience is required.
• Strong understanding of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
• Preferred experience with payroll processing using Workday.
• Experience with payroll processing through a third-party provider.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands while adhering to strict deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively across the organization and maintain productive working relationships.
• A strong advocate for identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Comfortable working remotely as part of a global team.
• Preferred experience with Workday HR System.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Ability to work at a desk and on a computer for extended periods.
