
Payment Specialist β Long Term Disability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +1 more state.
β’ Assist the claims department by calculating and processing short- and/or long-term disability payments.
β’ Set up increasingly complex payments in the system.
β’ Accurately and thoroughly document claims.
β’ Update and manage payment tracking systems with crucial dates and results.
β’ Collaborate with both internal and external teams to ensure financial precision and stability for claimants.
β’ Utilize contracts, state regulations, and other income sources to assess and compute benefits.
β’ Communicate via email or phone with employers, claims specialists, and claimants to gather financial information and other relevant data.
β’ Collect and evaluate decision-making information from claim case managers, claimants, vendors, and customer contacts.
β’ Operate independently under established procedures and guidelines, meet service-level and performance deadlines, and make both routine and complex decisions.
β’ Apply advanced knowledge to increasingly intricate situations and continue to develop role-specific expertise.
β’ Initiate follow-up tasks for claims examiners that require payment adjustments or oversight.
β’ Recognize and respond to claims with potential benefit offsets due to other income sources.
β’ Comply with Sarbanes-Oxley financial regulations, corporate compliance, and GAAP standards.
β’ High School diploma or GED.
β’ 2 - 3 Years of progressive experience in a financial services setting, such as payroll services, directly related to the specific duties of this position.
β’ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
β’ Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
β’ Excellent organizational skills with the capability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
β’ Experience in a fast-paced production environment with the ability to adapt when necessary (Preferred).
β’ Comfort working with various Excel documents and a strong grasp of mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages, and/or variances (Preferred).
β’ Ability to articulate or modify provisions and familiarity with contract language (Preferred).
