Payment Posting Specialist – Laboratory

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately and promptly post all payments and adjustments at the patient account level, ensuring daily balancing with bank deposits.

• Reach out to patients, insurance companies, or third-party administrators to gather necessary information for payment posting.

• Address payment and offset inquiries through various communication channels, including calls, chats, emails, and insurance websites.

• Manage recoupment accounts until resolution is achieved.

• Investigate and resolve issues related to insurance overpayments and credits.

• Process patient refund requests and oversee the refund register.

• Assist with monthly closing activities and month-end balancing.

• Review remittance advices for accuracy and identify any errors or questionable data.

• Meet organizational productivity goals and external benchmarks.

• Collaborate with operational personnel to address and resolve issues.

• Provide professional support for patient billing inquiries.

• Stay updated on payer guidelines and reimbursement policies.

• Document patient accounts in the billing system with correct grammar, spelling, and syntax.

• Comply with the Code of Conduct and the Mission & Value Statement.

• Report to the Supervisor of Payment Posting and/or the Director of Cash Management.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• 1-3 years of experience in Payment Posting within a Medical Setting.

• Familiarity with Accounting and EFT/ERA setup is advantageous.

• Experience with Mod Med/EMA practice management systems is a plus.

• Ability to read and interpret Explanation of Benefits is essential.

• Understanding of third-party billing and collection requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care.

• General knowledge regarding posting recoupments and reversals.

• Proficient in using Excel spreadsheets.

• Highly professional in appearance, tone, and communication skills.

• Team-oriented with demonstrated experience working effectively in a team environment.

• Committed to follow-through and achieving results.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
