This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Operate effectively in a dynamic contact center environment utilizing inbound and outbound calls, chat, SMS/Text, and email communications.
• Handle general inquiries, monitor and remind patients about their appointments, while adhering to established procedures.
• Deliver clinical information necessary for obtaining pre-certification from payers, adjusters, and nurse case managers.
• Gather precise data to facilitate care coordination and referrals for occupational health and workers' compensation services.
• Aid in tracking referrals, scheduling appointments, managing prior authorizations, and verifying insurance billing.
• Compile referral information to streamline and coordinate care effectively.
• Assist in referral navigation and care coordination within client health systems and hospitals.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state-specific workers' compensation and occupational health laws and regulations.
• Verify eligibility and secure authorizations via insurance companies and vendor portals.
• Monitor and reconcile referral orders until completion, including return-to-work or maximum medical improvement outcomes.
• Present clinical notes, orders, and referrals to utilization review organizations and insurance providers.
• Advocate on behalf of patients with carriers to ensure timely approval of essential services.
• Coordinate care with service providers, workers' compensation adjusters, and nurse case managers.
• Track referral outcomes and relay appointment reminders to patients, employers, adjusters, and nurse case managers.
• Achieve call handling, quality, and attendance performance targets.
• Perform additional duties as required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Minimum of two years of experience in patient care coordination or patient scheduling, or an equivalent background.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• Capacity to swiftly learn new processes and workflows.
• Proficient in listening to callers while accurately entering data and documenting information.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptional active listening abilities.
• Patient and empathetic demeanor.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy with meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to learn new software applications and engagement methods.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding customer service abilities.
• Experience in Medical Office Administration or possession of a Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
• Previous experience in occupational health or workers' compensation is advantageous.
• Experience with EMR systems is a plus.
• Bilingual proficiency is beneficial but not required.
