This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the initial point of contact for patients.
• Uphold a high standard of customer service and compassion while representing Mercy.
• Assist patients in accessing Mercy facilities.
• Coordinate patient appointment scheduling.
• Handle patient registration.
• Verify insurance benefits.
• Complete pre-certification and financial clearance, including pre-visit payment collection.
• Collect and accurately input patient data into records.
• Stay informed and proficient regarding insurance carriers, Medicare regulations, and federal, state, and accreditation standards.
• A High School diploma is mandatory.
• Preferably 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans is advantageous.
• Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong telephone etiquette is essential.
• Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical hospital staff, and insurance companies.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are required.
• Capability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and execute daily tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
• Proficiency in various computer systems is necessary.
• Ability to utilize a 10-key calculator and a computer keyboard.
• Must be capable of pushing, pulling, and/or lifting 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Physical ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to fulfill job responsibilities.
