Patch Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform regular vulnerability assessments and scans across networks, systems, and applications.

• Design, test, and implement patches and updates promptly and in a controlled manner.

• Reduce disruption to business operations during the deployment of patches.

• Work collaboratively with IT and security teams to prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk and impact.

• Oversee vulnerability remediation initiatives.

• Keep records of patching activities, vulnerability assessments, and remediation statuses for audit and compliance purposes.

• Stay informed about security advisories, vendor notifications, and threat intelligence related to emerging vulnerabilities and patch releases.

• Aid in the formulation and enforcement of patch management policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Offer technical assistance and support regarding challenges in vulnerability mitigation and patch deployment.

• Detect, analyze, and resolve vulnerabilities utilizing scanning tools and patch management platforms.

• Engage and collaborate with clients and internal teams regarding security priorities.

• Take part in virtual interviews with the hiring manager and a VP-level team member.

• Provide professional references during the hiring process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in patch management and vulnerability assessment in a professional IT or cybersecurity setting.

• Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7.

• Strong comprehension of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems along with patch deployment methodologies.

• Familiarity with network protocols, security principles, and common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs).

• Experience with automated patch management solutions like Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, or third-party patching tools.

• Understanding of compliance frameworks such as NIST, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.

• Background in a professional services or consulting role within the technology industry.

• Proficient scripting skills in PowerShell or Python.

• Experience in patching server operating systems and hypervisors, including Windows Server, Linux, VMware/ESXi, maintenance windows, and rollback procedures.

• Background in patching network and infrastructure firmware, including firewalls, switches, routers, and out-of-band management.

• Familiarity with storage patching and firmware for NAS, SAN, and backups, ensuring availability is not disrupted.

• Practical experience with Automox, N-able, Intune, and LogicMonitor.

• Familiarity with Tenable, Qualys, and Rapid7 for vulnerability scanning and remediation.

• Scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

• Working knowledge of AWS SSM, Azure Update Manager, and GCP.

• Familiarity with ITIL change management and ITSM/PSA tools.

• Experience in an MSP multi-tenant environment, managing concurrent patch cycles across multiple clients.

• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH.

• Three professional references, including at least one direct supervisor.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday during local business hours.
