This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Address reported issues and assist in the investigation procedure.
• Offer consultation, facilitation, guidance, training, and education regarding employment and labor relations topics.
• Uphold necessary confidentiality standards.
• Resolve intricate or sensitive employee and labor relations challenges related to conflicts, attendance, code of conduct, performance, and similar issues.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, OCIC, Integrity, Public Safety, Labor Relations, and other specialists.
• Oversee cases and keep records in the employee relations case management system.
• Participate in grievance meetings, providing guidance and recommendations for grievance responses.
• Consult with Labor Relations on complex grievances and challenging cases.
• Interpret and offer advice on HR policies and procedures, performance management, conflict resolution, discipline, grievances, arbitrations, and employee relations services.
• Foster collaborative relationships and deliver outstanding service to fulfill organizational missions.
• Utilize a diversity, equity, and inclusion perspective to identify patterns and trends, design and implement interventions, and promote ongoing improvement.
• Coordinate with OCIC and Occupational Health on reasonable accommodations and related employment decisions.
• Suggest and draft new and revised policies, procedures, and bargaining concepts.
• Engage in collective bargaining as required and assigned.
• Ensure that employee relations communications are reviewed, shared with employees, and submitted to the union when necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in business, HR, or a related field, and/or a comparable combination of education, experience, and training.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible Human Resource experience, including Employee or Labor relations experience, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to conduct investigations respectfully and professionally while adhering to OHSU values, policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
• Strong comprehension and application of federal, state, and local employment and labor laws.
• Capability to guide leaders in employee relations decisions that align with organizational policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Willingness and aptitude to provide training.
• Proficient conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage sensitive, emotional, and/or challenging situations with empathy.
• Competence in drafting concise and factually accurate reports.
• Knowledge of best practices in investigations.
• Understanding of how various perspectives, experiences, and cultures influence situations and the investigation process.
• Preferred: experience in a unionized healthcare or educational setting.
• Remote position with limited travel to Portland, Oregon.
• Monday–Friday work schedule, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
