
Part-Time Immigration Attorney – EOIR Docket Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Oversee the daily operations of an EOIR docket consisting of around 175 removal cases.
• Maintain control over the EOIR docket, including the hearing calendar, filing deadlines, and case preparation milestones.
• Examine court orders and updates on case statuses, identify necessary next steps, and ensure that tasks are allocated and completed.
• Review files for procedural discrepancies, missing evidence, incomplete applications, and issues requiring attorney intervention.
• Collaborate with the Managing Attorney to devise case strategies, determine eligibility for relief, and set preparation priorities.
• Delegate and oversee paralegal tasks, offer guidance, and address questions needing legal judgment.
• Assess applications, supporting documents, exhibit packages, and proposed filings for correctness and readiness for attorney approval.
• Ensure timely completion of filings and service, documenting filing confirmations appropriately.
• Monitor evidence collection, client follow-ups, and preparations for hearings.
• Organize preparation materials for the Managing Attorney and coverage counsel for appearances.
• Keep current case notes, task assignments, deadlines, and updates in the case management system.
• Highlight urgent issues, stalled cases, workload challenges, and approaching deadlines.
• Provide case-specific client advice and follow up when attorney involvement is necessary.
• Assist with urgent motions or other critical legal writing as required.
• Offer responsive support via Microsoft Teams when the Managing Attorney is in court.
• Supervise and review the work of a four-person EOIR paralegal support team, setting priorities and ensuring accountability.
• Valid license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Eligibility to practice before EOIR.
• Experience in handling EOIR removal defense cases.
• Comprehensive knowledge of immigration court procedures, relief applications, motions, filing requirements, and deadlines.
• Proven experience in overseeing paralegal work and managing a significant caseload.
• Ability to recognize urgent legal issues, prioritize conflicting deadlines, and provide practical guidance.
• Strong focus on detail, organization, and both written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working remotely with case management software and Microsoft Teams.
• Docketwise experience is a plus.
• Availability for the daily 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time team huddle.
• Ability to maintain a consistent, recurring schedule.
• Must be accessible via Microsoft Teams for urgent court-related inquiries when the Managing Attorney is in court.
• Submission of résumé along with a brief statement detailing removal defense experience, paralegal management experience, proposed recurring work schedule, and compensation expectations.
• Confirmation of availability for the daily 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time team huddle.
• Part-time schedule totaling 25 hours per week.
