This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Deliver instruction for a complete 18-week cycle
• Prepare for classes by familiarizing yourself with course materials and curriculum
• Assign occasional homework to enhance student learning
• Make yourself available to students outside of class for up to 30 minutes each week
• Assist students through the conversion process and address inquiries related to Jewish ritual, theology, and practice
• Foster a welcoming classroom atmosphere that promotes participation and ensures equitable engagement
• Comply with the policies, guidelines, and expectations of the Miller Program and American Jewish University
• Undertake other related responsibilities as necessary
• Rabbinical or cantorial ordination from a recognized institution
• In-depth understanding of Judaism and its various practices and customs
• Minimum of one year of experience teaching at the introductory level
• Proven ability to establish rapport and nurture community in an online learning setting
• Proficient in Zoom, including features such as breakout rooms, screen sharing, whiteboards, muting participants, and other related tools
• Awareness of and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including different cultures, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and disability statuses
• Familiarity with Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist denominations is preferred; experience with other Jewish denominations is also appreciated
• Comfortable teaching on Zoom and utilizing interactive online teaching features
