Part Time Faculty – Communication

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide online instruction to undergraduate and/or graduate students.

• Initiate, facilitate, engage in, and moderate discussions within online classroom forums.

• Conduct classes utilizing the Community of Inquiry Framework.

• Assess and grade student work, assignments, and papers within the timeframes set by APUS policy.

• Offer constructive feedback to support student learning and achievement.

• Actively participate in the classroom and respond to emails at least every other day, including one weekend day.

• Stay informed about classroom procedures and instructional resources.

• Engage in professional development activities.

• Conduct scholarly research and take part in professional engagement initiatives.

• Attend meetings related to the discipline and administrative matters.

• Keep up-to-date with discipline knowledge through professional communities.

• Support initiatives and departments at APUS.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in Communication from a regionally accredited institution is mandatory.

• Experience in college-level teaching is required.

• Online teaching experience is preferred.

• A proven record of excellence in teaching.

• Graduate Faculty must complete the Graduate Faculty Certification (APUS501) within 90 days of hire.

• All APUS faculty are required to complete the Engaging the First-Year Student Certification course (APUS110) within six months of hire.

• Applicants with degrees from foreign institutions must secure a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved agency.

• Ability to adhere to APUS guidelines, processes, methods, policies, faculty handbooks, and course assignments.

• Proficiency in Digital Communication / Social Media, Strategic Communication, or Health Communication.
