This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Assist in the drafting, updating, and reviewing of company handbooks, multi-state employment policies, code of conduct revisions, and standard operating procedures.
• Prepare, customize, and monitor standardized as well as bespoke employment agreements, severance agreements, and release documents.
• Act as the primary contact for third-party subpoenas, requests for employment records, and inquiries from agencies.
• Organize the collection and redaction of responsive documents.
• Support in-house counsel and outside defense attorneys with employment-related claims and EEOC/state agency charges.
• Oversee litigation holds, e-discovery collection, and document production processes.
• Assist in-house counsel with conducting workplace investigations.
• Coordinate interview arrangements, take comprehensive investigation notes, compile evidence files, and prepare final reports.
• Evaluate engagements to determine the appropriate worker classification based on federal, state, and local legal standards.
• Maintain documentation and records related to worker classification.
• Perform legal research on statutory, regulatory, and case law developments related to wage and hour regulations, leave laws, and labor and employment compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
• 4–6 years of paralegal experience with a focus on employment law is preferred.
• A strong blend of experience in both law firms and in-house corporate legal departments is preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, and state wage-and-hour regulations.
• Proficiency in using legal research databases, such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
• Familiarity with document management systems.
• A high level of discretion and sound judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive employee matters.
