This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Conduct paleontological fieldwork for AECOM's Environmental Planning and Permitting team in the U.S. West Rockies.
• Provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils at the genus or species level.
• Execute field monitoring operations.
• Develop strong and concise technical reports.
• Engage in research and data management activities.
• Travel and perform fieldwork across the Western United States.
• Oversee the field recovery of fossil specimens.
• Collaborate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and clients.
• Participate in project-based assignments with varying on-call hours.
• Bachelor's degree in paleontology or a related field such as geology or biology.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education focused on paleontological fieldwork and technical reporting.
• Proven paleontological fieldwork experience in the Western U.S.
• Capability to provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to genus or species level.
• Proficiency in field monitoring operations.
• Strong writing, research, and data management skills.
• Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork throughout the Western U.S.
• Ability to walk or trek over uneven terrain and long distances in extreme weather conditions for prolonged periods.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Capability to travel safely to job sites.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• An M.S. or Ph.D. in Paleontology or a related field is preferred.
• Over 6 years of relevant paleontology experience is preferred.
• Dual qualification in Archaeology is preferred.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Knowledge of the regional geology of the Western U.S.
• Ability to lead the field recovery of fossil specimens.
• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to interpret topographic, geological, and project maps.
• Ability to work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, and clients.
