This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Conduct fieldwork and monitoring operations in paleontology.
• Provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils at the genus or species level.
• Prepare detailed technical reports.
• Engage in research and manage data effectively.
• Oversee the field recovery of fossil specimens.
• Travel and perform fieldwork across the Western U.S.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Assist AECOM's Environmental Planning and Permitting team with project-specific requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in paleontology or a related discipline such as geology or biology.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education focused on paleontological fieldwork and technical report writing.
• Experience in paleontological fieldwork within the Western U.S.
• Capability to provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate and/or invertebrate fossils to the genus or species level.
• Expertise in conducting field monitoring operations.
• Excellent writing, research, and data management skills.
• Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork throughout the Western U.S.
• Physical ability to walk or trek over uneven terrain and long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended durations.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Ability to travel safely to job sites.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• An M.S. or Ph.D. in Paleontology or a related field is preferred.
• Over 6 years of relevant paleontology experience is preferred.
• Dual qualification in Archaeology is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations is preferred.
• Familiarity with the regional geology of the Western U.S. is preferred.
• Ability to direct the field recovery of fossil specimens is preferred.
• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision is preferred.
• Proficiency in reading topographic, geological, and project maps is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, and clients is preferred.
