Outside Auto Appraiser

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.

📋 Description

• Conduct physical inspections and evaluations of damaged vehicles through virtual or in-person assessments at body shops or customer locations.

• Review estimates and work collaboratively with repair facilities to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and quality of claims.

• Generate repair estimates utilizing industry-standard estimating software.

• Assess parts, labor, and material costs necessary to return vehicles to their pre-loss state.

• Analyze and resolve vehicle total losses by determining actual cash value through market research and comparisons with similar vehicles.

• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, customers, and third-party claimants.

• Identify and record pre-existing damage, previous repairs, and signs of potential fraud.

• Collaborate with claims representatives, body shops, and vendors to coordinate repairs and address coverage or repair challenges.

• Clarify the appraisal process, respond to inquiries, and keep vehicle owners updated throughout the claim process.

• Adapt to implementations of technology, system upgrades, and AI-driven digital tools.

• Act as a technical resource for auto claims staff and provide guidance to claims professionals regarding damages.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Active adjuster license, where applicable.

• Minimum of two years of experience in auto physical damage appraisal.

• Proficient in claims management and estimating software.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capable of exercising sound judgment and making effective decisions.

• Outstanding customer service skills.

• Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

• Proven conflict resolution capabilities.

• Ability to manage stress and maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.

• Basic understanding of insurance principles, terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim handling requirements.

• Quick learner who can apply experiences to new situations.

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• One year of experience in auto physical damage appraisal or related claims experience, or successful completion of the required Travelers Claim Representative training program.

• Valid driver's license.

• Must live in or be willing to relocate at personal expense to the Wichita, Kansas assigned territory.
