Outside Auto Appraiser

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough inspections and evaluations of damaged vehicles through virtual or in-person assessments at body shops or customer sites.

• Review estimates and work closely with repair facilities to maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality throughout the claims process.

• Generate repair estimates utilizing industry-standard estimating software.

• Assess and resolve total-loss vehicles by determining the actual cash value through market research and analysis of comparable vehicles.

• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, customers, and third-party claimants.

• Recognize and record pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential indicators of fraud.

• Work in collaboration with claim representatives, body shops, and vendors to coordinate repairs and authorize any necessary supplements.

• Deliver excellent customer service by clarifying the appraisal process and keeping vehicle owners updated.

• Embrace new technologies, system enhancements, and AI-driven digital tools.

• Act as a technical resource for auto claim personnel and provide guidance on damage assessments.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Valid adjuster license, where required.

• A minimum of two years of experience in auto physical damage appraisal.

• Expertise in claims management and estimating software.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and various enterprise technology systems and platforms.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.

• Outstanding customer service skills.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.

• Proven conflict resolution skills.

• Ability to handle stress while maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure.

• Basic knowledge of insurance principles, terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim handling requirements.

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• One year of experience in auto physical damage appraisal or relevant claim-related experience, or successful completion of the necessary Travelers Claim Representative training program.

• A valid driver's license.
