Outpatient Coding Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Execute and uphold a compliance strategy for outpatient coding and reimbursement.

• Assist the Coding Manager with Outpatient and Emergency Coding Services.

• Create policies and procedures.

• Develop educational programs and oversee initiatives related to HIM compliance, documentation, and precise coding.

• Organize and perform ongoing reviews, tracking, and analysis following outpatient coding audits.

• Provide training for new outpatient coders on documentation standards and outpatient surgery coding.

• Instruct coders on ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, coding conventions, Coding Clinics, and guidance from CPT Assistant.

• Conduct quality assessments of coding to ensure accuracy in codes, APC assignment, and reimbursement.

• Compile quality monitoring outcomes for performance evaluations and process enhancement.

• Investigate and address outpatient coding inquiries.

• Manage the daily unbilled report to guarantee prompt coding.

• Review audit findings with team members and perform follow-up evaluations.

• Collaborate with the PFS department to address outpatient coding review requests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is mandatory.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience with ICD-10 coding in an acute care environment.

• At least 2 years of experience conducting APC coding audits.

• Familiarity with APC and grouping methodologies, especially diagnosis/procedure APC assignment.

• Basic proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills.

• Strong prioritization and organizational abilities.

• Applicants must be physically located in and authorized to work in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

• Capability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying objects up to 25 lbs.

• Use of personal protective equipment may be necessary; travel may also be required.
