This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct resources to effectively place organs for transplantation and research while enhancing donor outcomes.
• Engage in call rotation and liaise with LifeLink transplant coordinators and administrators on duty.
• Manage organ and tissue placement with transplant centers, authorized research partners, procurement agencies, and OPOs.
• Utilize UNet to match donor organs with appropriate recipients, convey donor information and offers, and coordinate acceptances.
• Oversee national kidney allocation with UNOS and coordinate logistics between procurement agencies and transplant centers.
• Create medical and social history narratives for DonorNet and aid with donor assessment.
• Ensure Critical Elements are fulfilled and charts are thoroughly reviewed.
• Act as a liaison among transplant centers, surgical teams, OPOs, and LifeLink of Puerto Rico; support allocation and organ recovery efforts.
• Adjust logistics to accommodate geographic challenges, time zones, transplant center requirements, and OPO needs.
• Obtain and communicate preliminary and final culture results.
• Preserve chain of custody and organize the transport of organs and specimens.
• Document the final disposition and outcomes of organs.
• Remotely observe pulsatile kidney perfusion and relay information to transplant centers and/or UNOS.
• Conduct placement coordination, documentation, and follow-up during call shifts.
• Join weekly organ placement review calls and meetings.
• Build relationships with hospitals, transplant centers, and surgical teams.
• Engage in hospital development initiatives and coordinate schedules accordingly.
• Partake in directed research studies.
• Ensure accurate documentation, follow-up, and quality assurance within set deadlines.
• Contribute to QAPI activities.
• Assist in training new coordinators and special projects as assigned.
• RN and/or experience in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• An Associate degree or higher is required.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher is also acceptable as an alternative.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment and handle emotional and physical demands.
• Capacity to manage responsibilities and sustain performance during 24-hour call shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
• Availability via cell phone 24/7 as scheduled and for urgent non-call situations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Advanced written, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient multitasking skills.
• Minimal local travel required.
• Willingness to participate in continuing education to maintain certifications and licensure.
