
Operations and Maintenance Technician – Azure Landing Zone, Azure Virtual Desktop

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist in the ongoing operation and maintenance of Azure Landing Zone components, including management groups, subscriptions, policies, RBAC, and networking structures.
• Monitor the health of the platform, ensure configuration compliance, and assess resource performance across Azure environments.
• Manage core Azure infrastructure services such as virtual networks, network security groups, route tables, storage accounts, key vaults, backups, monitoring, and resource locks.
• Conduct validation checks, implement configuration updates, coordinate patches, review logs, and remediate issues.
• Uphold governance and security measures via Azure Policy, tagging standards, and operational guidelines.
• Aid in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution pertaining to Azure platform challenges.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, asset inventories, and support procedures.
• Provide support for Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, session hosts, application groups, workspaces, FSLogix profiles, and user access configurations.
• Oversee AVD service health, user session performance, host availability, and capacity utilization.
• Resolve issues related to connectivity, session reliability, login delays, profile containers, and application delivery.
• Assist with provisioning session hosts, updating images, scaling, and maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with identity, networking, storage, and endpoint management teams.
• Engage in testing and validation of AVD changes and operational enhancements.
• Respond to incidents, service requests, and operational alerts within established service levels.
• Take part in troubleshooting bridge calls and support escalations.
• Implement approved changes following change management procedures and scheduled maintenance windows.
• Identify recurring issues and contribute to problem management and ongoing service improvement.
• Coordinate with engineering, architecture, security, and service desk teams.
• Provide after-action documentation and operational reporting.
• Investigate AVD user login or session performance issues.
• Review Azure monitoring alerts and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Support compliance checks for subscriptions and policies.
• Maintain host pool health and manage session host updates.
• Document incidents, recurring issues, and corrective measures.
• Assist with scheduled maintenance and operational readiness activities.
• 3–6 years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud operations, or end-user computing support.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty.
• Practical experience in supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure within an operational context.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or other enterprise virtual desktop technologies.
• Familiarity with Azure core services such as virtual machines, networking, storage, monitoring, identity integration, and backup/recovery solutions.
• Working knowledge of Azure governance concepts, including subscriptions, RBAC, policies, and resource organization.
• Experience utilizing Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and service health dashboards.
• Understanding of incident, problem, and change management practices in an enterprise IT setting.
• Capability to follow operational runbooks and standard operating procedures while applying sound technical judgment.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting enterprise Azure Landing Zone implementations.
• Preferred: Experience with FSLogix, Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity, and troubleshooting profile/container issues.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Intune, endpoint configuration, and identity/access dependencies related to AVD.
• Preferred: Exposure to PowerShell, ARM, Bicep, or Terraform.
• Preferred: Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
