Operating System Deployment Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Windows and Windows Server images for EIT services across 187 locations

• Provide support for an enterprise IT service delivery model for a Department of Defense client

• Design, configure, manage, automate, deploy, and troubleshoot operating system images for Windows and Windows Server

• Support both physical and virtual servers and workstations, including their associated networking, storage, and security

• Develop image management strategies, integrate tools, and deploy images for both physical and virtual servers

• Assess enterprise-wide considerations such as cost, performance, networking, storage, and security

• Create automation scripts to enhance the delivery, security, and performance of operating systems

• Diagnose performance issues throughout the organization

• Offer tier 3/4 support to system administrators

• Advise on operating-system optimization for platform interoperability and technology integration

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen

• Active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one

• Over 10 years of relevant experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field may be substituted for 5 years of experience

• Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and maintaining operating system images and deployment methods within a large enterprise

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Systems administration experience in Linux environments (RHCE equivalent) or Windows Server environments (MS Security Engineer/Solution Architect equivalent)

• Experience with the integration and security of ADDS, ADCS, ADFS, Windows AD-integrated PKI, and SSO implementations

• Proficiency in application/package management and OS deployment/configuration management using MCM, Intune, and Autopilot

• Customer-facing experience, including presenting information, responding to inquiries, and proactively resolving issues

• Experience with VMware implementation, management, and configuration

• Familiarity with securing systems using STIGs, best practices, NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP requirements

• Knowledge of log management, network firewalls, and testing

• Experience with data protection and compliance using OpenSSL, Keystores, Azure Key Vault, and ciphers

• Experience with Agile/Kanban methodologies and Git/GitHub

• Configuration experience with Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022/2025, including STIG/JSIG

• Experience with Hyper-V/SCVMM

• Relevant technical and/or security certifications are preferred

• One of the following certifications is desired: Azure DevOps Engineering Expert, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate

• Preferred experience with ServiceNow, DevOps, Azure Boards, Azure Pipelines, Azure Repos, PowerShell, Ansible, Bash, Java, YAML, Python, Azure Cloud Computing, and related enterprise/security products
