Online Social Studies Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Plan, organize, and facilitate a personalized learning experience for students in a virtual setting.

• Utilize the provided curriculum, instructional resources, data, and technology effectively.

• Support initiatives across the school that enhance teaching and learning.

• Collaborate with instructional staff and school personnel to aid students in achieving their academic goals.

• Promote and uphold the School’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

• Offer meaningful and timely feedback on assignments through the Learning Management System (LMS).

• Conduct virtual or in-person instructional sessions employing best practices in online education.

• Provide supplementary learning materials tailored to individual student needs.

• Welcome new students within one business day of their enrollment.

• Guide students in setting goals and monitoring their progress.

• Work alongside the Academic Coach, parents, and students to assign suitable courses of study.

• Customize the curriculum in collaboration with teachers from other departments.

• Foster a respectful learning environment with high expectations.

• Establish and communicate clear learning objectives and content standards.

• Monitor and document student progress and communications in the Student Information System (SIS).

• Implement targeted interventions to enhance student success.

• Maintain weekly communication with students and parents via phone, text, email, or other electronic means.

• Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.

• Review and evaluate submitted coursework within 48 business hours.

• Administer and grade assessments, providing constructive feedback and opportunities for retries to support mastery learning.

• Maintain student records in accordance with administrative requirements.

• Carry out assigned administrative duties and activities.

• Report to the Head of School or their designee.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.

• A valid State Teaching Credential is preferred but not mandatory.

• Teaching experience is necessary.

• Experience in an online learning environment is preferred.

• Ability to adapt in a rapidly evolving environment.

• Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to student success.

• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications.

• Willingness to travel as part of job responsibilities.

• Familiarity with various educational programs, particularly in private and/or online schools.

• Capability to learn Student Information and Learning Management Systems.

• Ability to inspire students and parents towards achieving academic excellence.

• Experience working with culturally diverse student populations.

• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and resolve issues.

• Proficient in maintaining precise and detailed reports focused on student progress monitoring.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions effectively.

• Competence in multitasking, working under pressure, and meeting deadlines.

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level.

• Proficient math skills at a high school level.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.

• Proficient in using computers and office equipment.

• Capability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
