Oncology Registry Data Specialist II – Cancer Registry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Identify and extract data from medical records related to diagnosed cancer cases

• Investigate relevant sources to locate reportable cancer cases in accordance with OU Health, CoC, and OCCR

• Extract demographic details, diagnosis identification, stage at diagnosis, initial treatment course, and follow-up information

• Ensure abstracting timeliness as defined by the cancer committee

• Achieve a minimum of one abstract every two hours on average

• Maintain an abstracting accuracy rate of 95%

• Collaborate with the oncology registry team to enhance processes, work methods, and procedures

• Oversee daily workflow and assignments to guarantee adherence to key performance indicators

• Uphold confidentiality standards

• Pursue personal and professional development through education, organizational memberships, seminars, and other opportunities

• Undertake additional duties as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare or healthcare informatics is required

• Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification issued by the National Cancer Registrars Association must be obtained within 24 months of hiring

• Familiarity with current standards and requirements of the American College of Surgeons (CoC, NAPBC, and NAPRC) is essential

• Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, EPIC, and CRStar

• Strong organization and time management abilities are required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential

• Advanced teamwork and collaboration skills are necessary

• Candidates must reside and work full-time in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas, or be willing to relocate to one of these states before commencing employment
