This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.
β’ Identify, evaluate, and maintain data regarding the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status, and survival outcomes of cancer patients.
β’ Abstract medical records in alignment with national cancer registry standards.
β’ Generate statistical reports and analyses focusing on incidence, treatment outcomes, mortality, demographic trends, and cancer program quality metrics.
β’ Gather, validate, and report data for protocol studies, patient care assessments, quality enhancement initiatives, committee functions, and multidisciplinary cancer conferences.
β’ Assist clinical departments with quality audits, data validation, reporting requests, and registry initiatives.
β’ Submit necessary reports to the National Cancer Database, State Cancer Registry, and ACoS Commission on Cancer.
β’ Act as a subject matter expert on cancer registry standards, departmental policies, reporting requirements, and best practices in oncology data.
β’ Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
β’ Promote continuous improvement efforts within the cancer program.
β’ Engage in occasional in-person team meetings, professional development activities, and collaborative events throughout the year.
β’ Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) is mandatory.
β’ Preferred candidates will have three to five years of experience in oncology data abstraction, cancer registry, health information management, or a similar healthcare data role.
β’ Familiarity with NeuralFrame by KACI and electronic medical records (EMRs) such as SCM, Touchworks, Aria, Meditech, EPIC, and HealthInfoNet is preferred.
β’ In-depth knowledge of oncology terminology, cancer staging methods, treatment options, and national cancer registry standards is essential.
β’ Experience with data submission to state and national cancer registries is required.
β’ Knowledge of American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer and National Cancer Database (NCDB) reporting requirements is favorable.
β’ Strong analytical abilities and exceptional attention to detail are necessary.
β’ A commitment to data accuracy is essential.
β’ Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines are required.
β’ Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
