Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Duke Women's Health Menopause Specialty Clinic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Provide evidence-based care, education, and counseling for health issues related to midlife.

β€’ Assess, manage, educate, counsel, and treat patients experiencing both common and complex menopause-related issues.

β€’ Administer medical management for menopausal health challenges, including hormone therapy for menopause.

β€’ Oversee symptomatic perimenopause treatment, including hormonal contraception, IUD implementation, and cyclic progestogen therapy.

β€’ Address symptoms for patients at risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, those with high cancer risk, and cancer survivors using both hormonal and non-hormonal methods.

β€’ Handle symptoms in patients with higher-risk profiles, such as those with tobacco use, clotting disorders, cardiovascular issues, valvular disease, liver conditions, and transplant histories.

β€’ Evaluate abnormal and postmenopausal bleeding.

β€’ Tackle menopause-related cognitive and mood fluctuations, genitourinary syndrome, vulvar dermatoses, vulvovaginitis, weight management issues, sexual health concerns, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic floor matters.

β€’ Deliver routine gynecologic care aligned with menopause patient demand.

β€’ Offer family planning and reproductive life planning counseling.

β€’ Conduct routine screening examinations and cervical cancer screenings.

β€’ Refer patients for age-appropriate mammography, bone density, and colorectal cancer screenings based on risk.

β€’ Screen for and manage sexually transmitted infections.

β€’ Assess breast changes or masses along with pelvic or abdominal pain.

β€’ Provide regular postoperative follow-up and address problem visits.

β€’ Treat vulvar cysts and abscesses.

β€’ Perform IUD placements and removals, endometrial biopsies, vulvar biopsies, and other in-person gynecologic evaluations and treatments within the scope of credentials and privileges.

β€’ Collaborate with experienced Complex Menopause providers for mentorship and clinical supervision.

β€’ Accommodate flexible scheduling, including early evening and weekend hours.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Nurse Practitioners: completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and a Master's degree in Nursing.

β€’ Physician Assistants: completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; a Bachelor's degree is required, while a Master's degree is strongly preferred.

β€’ Certified Nurse Midwives: graduation from an accredited graduate-level nurse-midwifery program at the MSN or DNP level.

β€’ BLS certification is mandatory.

β€’ Nurse Practitioners: must possess current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina along with national Nurse Practitioner certification.

β€’ Physician Assistants: must be licensed in North Carolina and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

β€’ Certified Nurse Midwives: must hold current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina and national Nurse Midwife certification.

β€’ DEA license for the applicable practice state(s) is required.

β€’ A minimum of two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Midwife in Women's Health is necessary.

β€’ Proven experience in managing midlife Women's Health concerns.

β€’ Experience or training in sexual health management and/or prescribing anti-obesity pharmacotherapy is preferred.

β€’ Menopause-focused certification or equivalent training is preferred, or candidates must obtain licensure within six months of employment.

β€’ Applicants should disclose all states where they currently hold an active professional license and any compact licensure status.
