Nurse Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Deliver thorough medical support to the NMDP network and staff for donor evaluation and management, addressing donor and recipient adverse events, and investigating quality incidents related to medical issues.

• Act as a liaison between the network and NMDP departments to ensure adherence to quality procedures for cellular products while minimizing organizational risk.

• Evaluate complex clinical scenarios utilizing medical expertise.

• Decide on suitable actions based on clinical judgment and/or consultation with an NMDP physician or their designee.

• Convey intricate medical information professionally and in a manner suitable for stakeholders.

• Implement GTP and cGMP regulations in everyday practices.

• Uphold confidentiality and advocate for volunteer stem cell donors.

• Conduct triage, review, and determine next steps during urgent donor and process issues.

• Inform donors of recipient findings that are suspected to be donor-derived.

• Monitor donors during and following adverse events.

• Investigate and monitor qualifying adverse events in recipients.

• Compile data and present summaries of donor and recipient adverse events to both internal and external parties.

• Execute root cause analysis and investigate quality incidents identified in the Quality Incident system or FormsNet.

• Collaborate with Case Management staff and Network members on recognizing incidents, protocol deviations, documentation, and follow-up.

• Coordinate with NMDP Quality to identify and report trends in quality assurance.

• Communicate potential risk management issues to key NMDP stakeholders.

• Diminish risk through problem-solving, interventions, and post-event communication.

• Consult with Legal as necessary.

• Promote awareness and education regarding donor confidentiality.

• Organize medical care for donors suffering from long-term complications.

• Assist in providing financial aid for donors facing financial hardships due to post-donation complications.

• Support informed consent by offering crucial information and ensuring comprehension and voluntariness.

• Coordinate with the donor's insurance provider and Third Party Administrator for disability and medical claims.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• RN required; BSN preferred.

• Minimum of five years’ nursing experience in medicine or a subspecialty area; two years if specific to BMT.

• At least two years of experience in a quality assurance role is highly preferred.

• Clinical knowledge of health conditions and their related treatments.

• Familiarity with common medical diseases and their management.

• Understanding of general health assessment techniques.

• Expertise in collecting and analyzing relevant data and/or clinical findings.

• Knowledge of healthcare confidentiality standards.

• Proficiency in basic computer applications.

• Ability to effectively summarize and communicate complex medical information.

• Competence in assessing health issues from diverse sources.

• Capacity to resolve complex problems and make prompt, sound decisions.

• Strong critical thinking abilities.

• Capability to exercise independent judgment utilizing appropriate resources.

• Flexibility to manage multiple issues with appropriate prioritization.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Proficient in computer software, including Microsoft Office programs.

• Willingness to have flexible working hours to meet business requirements.

• Proficiency in a foreign language is desirable.

• Certification as a Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Certified Nurse (TCTCN®) is preferred.

• Knowledge of stem cell transplantation, product collection, and HLA typing is preferred.

• Familiarity with donor health issues related to stem cell donation is preferred.

• Basic understanding of clinical research is preferred.
