This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Conduct telephone triage in high-pressure, repetitive environments.
• Gather patient and caller information to make informed assessments.
• Formulate preliminary diagnoses and decide on interventions and patient disposition in accordance with established protocols.
• Guide patients and callers in recognizing normal versus abnormal symptoms, assessing treatment efficacy, and determining when to follow up.
• Record symptoms, complaints, nursing evaluations, advice given, and responses from patients and callers.
• Execute initial assessments for patients across all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
• Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings and recognize potential issues.
• Identify educational needs and provide care advice to patients and callers.
• Evaluate signs of abuse and ensure appropriate referrals are made.
• Review patient medication, dosages, allergies, medical history, and immunization records.
• Monitor the safety of the call queue as assigned and act as a liaison for staffing or interdisciplinary matters.
• Act as a resource for colleagues and offer feedback to supervisors.
• Choose suitable guidelines based on assessment findings.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, documentation, and audio audits.
• Modify dispositions based on the individual needs of patients and callers, using nursing judgment.
• Gather data to pinpoint process and operational enhancements.
• Incorporate findings from quality assurance audits and new insights into practice.
• An Associate's Degree is mandatory.
• A minimum of two years of recent nursing experience is required.
• BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is necessary.
• An RN-Registered Nurse license from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies is required.
• Must provide age-appropriate triage and treatment guidance to callers ranging from newborns to adults, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting.
• Proficient in using computer software and related programs for triage and reporting to relevant agencies or clinics.
• Must utilize nursing judgment in conjunction with computer software to arrive at appropriate care advice and dispositions.
• Capability to respond suitably to emergency situations.
• Ability to apply nursing principles, practices, and techniques effectively.
• Competence to exercise initiative and judgment in determining the proper treatment protocols.
• Proficient in using computers and computer systems.
• Computer skills are required.
• Bilingual capabilities are preferred.
• All candidates for safety-sensitive roles must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test following a conditional job offer.
