This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Spearhead the formulation of medium- to long-term financial strategies, encompassing funding runway, capital allocation, reserves, and scenario analysis.
• Deliver decision-ready financial insights to the Board, investors, and funders via comprehensive reporting, forecasts, and analytical assessments.
• Ensure alignment of financial strategies with organizational goals, pricing structures, program outcomes, and funding mechanisms.
• Prepare group budgets, ongoing forecasts, cash flow projections, and statutory financial statements.
• Uphold the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring audit preparedness and compliance with statutory and tax regulations across all entities.
• Generate consolidated management accounts and entity-specific reports for Boards, donors, and funding partners.
• Assess funding sufficiency and liquidity across various countries and entities.
• Oversee banking relationships, inter-company cash transactions, and foreign currency settlements.
• Identify and address funding shortfalls through effective cash flow planning.
• Maintain internal controls related to authority delegations, treasury operations, procurement, and reserves management.
• Lead the financial risk management, tax efficiency, and compliance frameworks across different jurisdictions.
• Address audit findings, due diligence requirements, and high-risk challenges.
• Review and authorize significant procurement commitments, pricing, and freight within budgetary and cash flow constraints.
• Supervise financial terms within contracts and funding agreements.
• Guide, develop, and retain the finance and data team.
• Foster succession planning, multi-skilling, and financial literacy throughout the organization.
• Enhance analytical capabilities and reporting proficiency.
• Advocate for integrity, accountability, and collaborative efforts.
• Integrate financial governance while supporting the organization's mission and core values.
• Professional accounting qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA) is essential.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience post-articles with group-level responsibilities.
• Proven track record in analytics-driven decision support.
• Experience in international non-profit and multi-entity finance environments.
• Understanding of donor compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of financial risk management applicable to regional and sector contexts.
• Familiarity with the fundamentals of procurement and contracting.
• Proficiency in consolidation, forecasting, and scenario modeling techniques.
• Skills in cash flow and currency management.
• Ability to design policies and control frameworks effectively.
• Competence in engaging with Boards and vendors.
• Strong executive communication abilities.
• Demonstrates ethical behavior and trustworthiness.
• Skilled in stakeholder management with funders and investors.
• Experience in coaching and leading change initiatives.
• Must be based in Cape Town.
