This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Design and implement secure server clusters.
• Identify and resolve hardware and network connectivity issues.
• Oversee essential infrastructure repairs.
• Manage Akamai's hardware resources.
• Coordinate activities among field technicians based locally.
• Collaborate with various teams to guarantee product and service reliability, scalability, and usability.
• Regularly travel to data centers for the receipt, delivery, installation, and maintenance of hardware assets.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and monitor connectivity issues across Layer 1, 2, and 3 networks.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams on deployment initiatives, network setups, and ongoing maintenance.
• Collaborate with field technicians, ISPs, Akamai partners, and third-party client vendors.
• Monitor, prioritize, and address incoming maintenance tickets in accordance with SLA targets.
• Maintain and surpass SLA targets to ensure optimal system uptime and performance.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with data center operations and protocols.
• Knowledge of network technologies.
• Understanding of security concepts.
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux internals.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Background in systems design.
• Strong organizational skills with a proven track record in scheduling and operational planning.
• Capacity to work effectively under tight deadlines while adhering to procedural guidelines.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% domestically within the U.S.
• Must undergo or possess a successfully adjudicated USG Tier 3 background investigation.
• U.S. citizenship is a requirement.
• Capability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds of equipment.
