This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Comprehend business and technical requirements to create design specifications for operating, network, and infrastructure systems.

• Evaluate, recommend, plan, and design infrastructure, hardware, software, and middleware solutions for smooth integration.

• Collaborate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.

• Configure, maintain, and deploy LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, load balancers, and associated hardware.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rectify network issues.

• Research and suggest software or hardware modifications to address network deficiencies and enhance performance.

• Provide support for network connectivity and related issues for both internal and external customers.

• Act as a technical resource for resolving intricate network challenges.

• Engage in client projects aimed at improving and upgrading network infrastructures.

• Interact with technical and business personnel as well as external customers.

• Analyze network activity and issues to identify and prevent systematic errors.

• Recommend modifications and enhancements to network design for improved system availability and performance.

• Assess network performance and bandwidth needs.

• Offer network planning recommendations to management.

• Document procedures and maintain up-to-date network diagrams and related materials.

• Collaborate with data center and IT teams to assess space, power, and connectivity requirements.

• Participate in on-call Tier 3 production support activities.

• Establish standard engineering designs, templates, processes, and procedures for projects.

• Lead the evaluation and selection of tools under management guidance.

• Organize product demonstrations and impartially assess tools.

• Deploy tools within the team as required.

• Mentor junior engineers and create “how to” guides.

• Coordinate activities with vendors.

• Perform additional duties and contribute to special projects as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 5–7 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent amount of applicable work experience.

• Strong organizational skills with the capability to multitask.

• Ability to analyze complex problems and identify key elements, variables, and alternatives.

• Skilled in organizing and prioritizing resources and integrating new information.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Over 5 years of experience in routing, core switching, wireless, firewalls, VLAN, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, monitoring tools, network topologies, and Cisco network components.

• Proficient in EIGRP, BGP, HSRP, and VPN protocols.

• At least 2 years of experience with NetScaler or similar load-balancing technologies.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience with Palo Alto.

• Strong understanding of WAN technologies including MPLS, DS3, Ethernet, and broadband.

• In-depth knowledge of advanced network principles and Internet architecture.

• Excellent customer relations skills.

• Knowledgeable in Network Technology principles, including network strategies, carrier offerings design, VPN solutions, and Cisco platforms.

• Awareness of networking, security, and load balancing.

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

• Must pass pre-employment background and drug screening.

• May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call Tier 3 production support.
