
National Specification & Business Development Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Create and uphold product specifications in collaboration with housing associations, local authorities, consultants, architects, and M&E engineers.
• Advocate compliant smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide alarm solutions for refurbishment and new-build projects.
• Conduct CPD presentations, technical briefings, and product training sessions.
• Influence the selection of products and systems during the design and specification phases.
• Establish and sustain a robust specification pipeline utilizing CRM.
• Identify, cultivate, and secure new business opportunities within social housing and related markets.
• Forge relationships with contractors, procurement frameworks, and installation partners.
• Discover new market avenues and generate additional revenue streams.
• Assist with product launches, marketing campaigns, and broader commercial initiatives.
• Enhance understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
• Develop and expand existing national and regional customer accounts.
• Recognize upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
• Establish long-term relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders.
• Collaborate with distributors and merchant partners to maximize specification conversion and sales growth.
• Formulate strategic account plans for priority clients.
• Achieve specification, commercial, and customer-focused KPIs, including specification value, sales conversion, new business revenue, account growth, customer acquisitions, pipeline value, gross margin, and engagement.
• Demonstrated experience in specification sales within the construction, electrical, fire safety, building products, or a similar industry.
• A proven track record in securing new business and driving commercial growth.
• Experience selling to social housing and/or public sector markets.
• Strong commercial negotiation and influencing abilities.
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including Asset Managers, Compliance Managers, and Fire Safety Teams.
• Confidence in delivering technical presentations, CPD sessions, and customer training.
• Excellent relationship-building and account management capabilities.
• Familiarity with CRM systems for managing opportunities and pipelines.
• A proactive, self-driven, and commercially oriented approach.
• A valid UK driving licence and a willingness to travel extensively across the UK.
