
National Senior Director β Field Medical Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Establish, develop, and lead the national field-based MSL team.
β’ Create operational frameworks, best practices, and standard operating procedures.
β’ Recruit, train, mentor, and manage the performance of the MSL team.
β’ Convert medical strategy into actionable objectives and measurable field medical initiatives.
β’ Identify and strategically engage with key thought leaders and external experts.
β’ Oversee field-based clinical trial support, including site education, patient recruitment, and investigator engagement.
β’ Represent the organization at scientific conferences and participate in advisory boards and scientific forums.
β’ Develop MSL infrastructure for compliant scientific insight and data collection, training, SOPs, and CRM operations.
β’ Supervise compliant scientific engagements with KOLs, HCPs, and key stakeholders.
β’ Guide the collection and dissemination of actionable insights for internal medical and clinical development strategies.
β’ Collaborate and align across products, disease states, and indications.
β’ Support cross-functional business planning, special projects, strategic imperatives, and congress planning and execution.
β’ Ensure MSL activities adhere to ethical standards and comply with relevant laws, regulations, industry codes, policies, SOPs, OIG, FDA, PhRMA guidelines, and the Orca Bio Code of Conduct.
β’ Maintain scientific and clinical expertise through continuous education and participation in key meetings and symposia.
β’ Collaborate on publications, training, internal initiatives, and medical resources.
β’ Supervise the field-based Medical Science Liaison team.
β’ Exercise supervisory and decision-making authority.
β’ Complete mandatory compliance and regulatory training.
β’ Report to the Vice President of Medical Affairs.
β’ Advanced scientific degree required; doctorate-level clinical/medical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD).
β’ 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs.
β’ Previous experience working as an MSL.
β’ A minimum of 3 years managing field-based MSL teams.
β’ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Strong motivation, initiative, mentoring, strategic thinking, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
β’ In-depth understanding of US pharma rules and regulations, especially as they pertain to MSL activities.
β’ Ability to develop, coach, and oversee a highly compliant MSL function.
β’ Experience in team management, developing, reporting, and tracking MSL performance.
β’ Experience in managing departmental projects and resources.
β’ Proven experience in managing and cultivating relationships with KOLs/HCPs.
β’ Preferred: Experience in cell and/or gene therapy.
β’ Preferred: Background in a small biotech company or start-up environment.
β’ Preferred: Demonstrated success in field medical launch planning and execution.
β’ Domestic and international travel required approximately 40β50%.
