National Accounts Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Sustain and enhance relationships with national chain accounts

• Partner with marketing, business, and trade teams to develop sales initiatives

• Present new products to clients and secure product placements

• Design programs aimed at boosting sales of essential items and fostering long-term growth

• Cultivate and oversee broker relationships

• Ensure the effective implementation of sales strategies in retail or foodservice settings

• Steer the strategic direction for national corporate accounts, aligning Smithfield's objectives with customer goals

• Provide guidance and support to divisional directors, regional managers, and broker partners

• Facilitate connections between national and divisional sales teams to ensure consistent messaging and execution

• Broaden Smithfield’s footprint in Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, and Convenience Stores

• Collaborate with Business Management, Marketing, Finance, and Operations on pricing, forecasting, innovation, and logistics

• Formulate category management strategies across both branded and distributor portfolios

• Identify optimal product mixes, rationalize SKUs, and introduce new items

• Lead employee development and coaching initiatives


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution and over 8 years of relevant experience in retail or foodservice meat trade; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

• More than 2 years of proven experience in team management/development or project leadership

• Strong grasp of food business industry dynamics or retail channels

• Experience in customer-focused and data-driven selling, including familiarity with IRI, Neilsen, and Perishable Group data

• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

• High proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, along with organizational planning and adaptability

• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Existing connections with major national chain accounts are preferred as a key asset

• Understanding of product cuttings and product attributes

• Knowledge and experience using SAP

• Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time

• Ability to remain seated for extended periods

• Occasionally able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs

• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms

• Necessary close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception
