Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site inspections of vehicle conditions for dealer clients within a designated territory.

• Find, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles located on dealer client lots.

• Confirm vehicle details such as identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; accurately input data into systems.

• Assess and record the condition of the vehicle's exterior and interior.

• Carry out basic mechanical evaluations on powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical systems.

• Identify and document any damage, missing parts, or non-functional features.

• Foster trust and develop strong relationships with dealer clients.

• Inform clients about Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services.

• Engage with dealers to boost inspection volumes and ensure ongoing participation.

• Utilize data, insights, and partner feedback to enhance inspection efficiency and productivity within the territory.

• Adjust to daily changes in appointments and schedules.

• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.

• Employ Salesforce.com for reporting, managing leads, and tracking customer performance.

• Work collaboratively with Wholesale Specialists, colleagues, and other teams at Manheim.

• Contribute to ongoing improvement and Lean process enhancement initiatives.

• Meet production expectations while adhering to safety and health regulations.

• Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives.

• Adhere to Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.

• At the senior level, conduct advanced inspections, mentor colleagues, and assist in onboarding and training of less experienced inspectors.

• Perform additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED is required for Level 1.

• Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus more than 3 years of experience in a related field; alternatives include any degree/certification beyond a High School diploma/GED or 5 years of experience in a relevant field.

• Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years of experience in a related field; alternatives include any degree/certification beyond a High School diploma/GED and 3 years of experience, or 7 years of experience in a related field.

• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.

• Must be capable of fulfilling the physical and mental demands of the role within specified timeframes.

• Prior vehicle inspection experience is necessary for Senior Level candidates.

• Strong automotive knowledge (both body and mechanical) is required for Senior Level applicants.

• A pre-employment drug test is required; currently, no marijuana testing is conducted.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.

• OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

• Level 1: Basic automotive knowledge and 0–1 years of automotive-related experience are preferred.

• Level 2: 1–2 years of automotive-related experience are preferred.

• Senior Level: 2–3 years of automotive-related experience is strongly preferred, with 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended.
