Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Perform comprehensive on-site vehicle evaluations in accordance with Manheim inspection standards.

• Identify, initiate, relocate, assess, and securely return vehicles at dealer client lots.

• Confirm vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options.

• Enter inspection data into systems with high accuracy.

• Inspect and record the exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components.

• Examine and document the interior condition, covering seating, dashboard, and installed options.

• Conduct basic mechanical assessments across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical systems.

• Detect and document damage, missing parts, or non-functional features.

• Foster trust with dealer clients through quality service, professionalism, and promptness.

• Inform clients about Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection offerings.

• Engage with dealers to boost inspection volume and encourage participation.

• Utilize data, insights, and partner feedback to enhance inspection efficiency and territory productivity.

• Adjust to changes in appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage.

• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.

• Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and tracking customer performance.

• Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, colleagues, and other teams within Manheim.

• Participate in process improvements in a continuous improvement and Lean environment.

• Maintain production expectations consistently.

• Adhere to safety and health protocols and engage in Safety Excellence initiatives.

• Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

• At the senior level, conduct advanced inspections, mentor colleagues, support onboarding, and serve as a subject matter expert.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is necessary for Level 1.

• Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, or any degree/certification beyond a High School diploma/GED, or 5 years’ experience in a related area.

• Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience in a related field, or any degree/certification beyond a High School diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in a related field.

• Basic automotive knowledge is preferred for Level 1.

• 0–1 years of automotive-related experience is preferred for Level 1.

• 1–2 years of automotive-related experience is preferred for Level 2.

• Prior vehicle inspection experience is required for Senior Level.

• Strong automotive knowledge (both body and mechanical) is essential for Senior Level.

• 2–3 years of automotive-related experience is strongly preferred for Senior Level.

• 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections is recommended.

• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is mandatory.

• Capability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
